Inktober Day Six. Hidden.
Hidden Motors. Are motors being hidden in bikes for races?
If button operated, a button push could provide a much needed boost when required or to help the rider make a quick move at a decisive moment.
A small motor can be slipped into a seat tube that can power the botton bracket axle to enable the pedals to go around on their own.
Hidden on/off switch on handle bar. Saddle bag. Battery and motors. Drinks bottle. Crank drive.
The motors could also give the rider a few minutes rest when they most need it.
Use of hidden motors is also referred to as Technical Fraud or Mechanical Doping.
Competition bikes are regularly scanned for heat-emitting devices. The hubs of rear wheels are also often scanned.
Saddle bags and drinks bottles could be used to contain supplementary batteries.
Battery, motor, wires, drives to crank.
Special Report.

Inktober Day Three. Collect.
Many cyclist collect Lycra. Lycra bends and moved easily to avoid chafing. Sky Team promote black. This is not good for road safety 🙁
Longer back to keep lower back covered. Rear pockets to carry stuff. Leg wear higher to keep back covered. Padding essential for both men and women. Half zip. Padding provides protection from bumps. Full zips undo all the way down for if super hot. e.g. on a hill climb. Cyclists don’t wear any pants under shorts to avoid chafing. Insects like bright colours too! Team Tinkoff’s bright yellow/green is great for roads. High next helps protect from the sun. Note: You don’t have to wear lycra to ride bike. Unlike cotton, lycra helps sweat move away from the skin.

Blackberry Vodka. Harvesting and preparation in progress.
For every 400g of blackberries add 70cl of vodka and 150g of caster sugar. Add more sugar later to taste.
Soaking to shift bugs. Spot the escaping bug.

Mary Berry 🙂
Shake Demijohns occasionally.
September: Harvest. Preparation.
October & November: Stare expectantly at demijohns.
December: Strain and Bottle. Drink. Share as Christmas gifts (delete the latter)
Next step: Gin.

Birthday Greeting

I produced this Birthday Greeting to post on the Facebook pages and other social media of friends instead of just typing up a few words.
The base illustration including the words ’Happy Birthday’ get reused each time by me hand rendering lettering for a more personal message on an acetate overlay. Both the artwork and the acetate overlay gets scanned in each time and the acetate wiped and reused.

FT building Southwark Bridge

I have returned to One Southwark Bridge, London to commence what is now my third contract to delivery at the Financial Times which has always been a challenging but highly rewarding experience with great people. I have marked the occasion with a piece of art. As I outlined the artwork I wondered whether this might be the only UK newspaper defiantly flying the EU flag?
