Selfridges: Easter Promotion 1991

The Selfridges Easter promotion required posters and display signage to provide customers with a seasons greeting from the store and a format that could be used and adapted to provide store holiday opening times, point of sale information and brochure content. This required a variety of different formats and sizes.
I produced my Easter chick themed illustrations and logotype using a blade and scraperboard. These were then reproduced in the dark room onto film and I then progressed to visuals by laying them on blocks of flat colour. Some experimentation was required with the levels of black removed from the scraperboard before I could progress to camera-ready artwork most of which was produced by hand.
I introduced some Christian symbolism into the patterning on the eggs. The black and white medium I used together with the traditional feel was not too dissimilar to that of stained glass windows.
