Today I finished reading this book, a fantastic read especially as Bill Waterson himself was not available to the author. The ‘not available’ was part of the ‘unconventional’ story told in the book.

WALTBUCKS Coffee
This thought and image came into my head today so I just had to let it out
When Walt brews himself a fresh coffee, he jokingly calls it a WaltBucks.
Q. What’s the difference between StarBucks and Walt?
Well Walt has always paid his tax in the UK (and he makes better coffee). Not that’s no joke!
Home Staircase Gallery
Our modest house has an unusually large central staircase. Today I completed converting this to a home gallery by cutting, painting, hanging of 4 rows of picture rail totalling 25m installed at up to 4m high. Now I just need to fill it up!
Bee Houses
These three bee houses will soon be installed in our garden once we’ve identified some good south facing positions. We’re doing our little bit to try and help reverse the decline of the bee population.

Too Many Keys
I have too many keys. A bit like a prison warder or a school caretaker.
Four Plants
I moved a lot of things around at home today including these plants which now have a new home together.
Chess
I have taken more of my son’s black chess pieces than he has taken from me. So far I’m winning but perhaps not for long…
Hirst’s Candy
Paintings from Damien Hirst’s ‘Candy Series’. Candy Spill work by Felix Gonzalez-Torres (1959-1996). Exhibition is called ‘Candy’. Some of these sculptures are in the form of sweets in cellophane piled up in corners to represent letting go and a refusal to take a static form/monolithic sculpture, in favour of disappearing, changing, unstable form. Blain Southern (London, Hanover Square) is the name of the gallery. This is sculpture? You’re allowed to eat the candy.
Hirst’s [b: 1965] ‘Visual Candy’ paintings were made as a direct riposte to an art critic who dismissed Hirst’s work as ‘just visual candy’.
Both the sculptures and paintings were originally produced in the early 90’s.
Plant/Rack/Station
