This is a more developed base drawing for Project Beane.
I have adjusted the layout in proportion to A4/A3, added hand rendered typography and hands together with water ripples and waves extending from the hair of the little goddess of the river.
Note to self: correct the Goddess typo!

This painting is a part of my personal project. This little Goddess of the river will be central to the next larger piece of the project, which will include additional icons and imagery.

I’ve set myself a painting project that relates to the subject of conservation of my local river and will also form pieces of work I hope to submit to our village show later in the year. I’m using my ink line art illustrations to help form my composition.

Eight faces for character templates progressed for further development on my personal project (Project Monty)
I developed and simplified head template structures for my personal project, Project Monty. Male and Female, Young and Old. Simple lines to enable me to work more quickly, consistently with minimum lines.
I heard these words from Jason Brubaker in a Youtube the other day. I decided to render them with Victuals the cat, a character from one of his Graphic Novels in Remindblog.com
This is now in a frame on a wall at home to help remind me of the importance of finishing things and that when working on something big it’s defining and focussing on the small component wins that can become the motivators. This is not too unlike the agile theories in my other life of digital project management but seem more difficult to apply to creative pursuits.
This is my progress so far in developing my characters for one of my personal projects (Project Monty). Those with red asterisks are my successful applicants who have been shortlisted for the next stage of drawing board development.
Happy Fathers Day!
Given it is Fathers Day this weekend I thought I would share some of my back catalogue from 25 years ago. Back in the early Nineties I worked as in-house Graphic Designer and Illustrator for Selfridges Limited. Here are my hand designed, illustrated and artworked in-store promotions for 1991 and 1992.
The galleries also included my development of ideas which tended to raise a few eyebrows. There was also much debate on whether there should be an apostrophe in Fathers. I’m still not so sure!
I produced this while waiting to meet a friend yesterday evening. I added the quote later after some thought and to fill the space remaining at the top of the page. “People are very busy; they are so busy that when they walk in the crowds they see no one, no one but themselves; they hear no voice, no voice but their own voice!” Mehmet Murat ildan
This forms a part of my ‘A Collection of Quotes’ project.

Tess, who is my 4-year-old Niece/Goddaughter have had a little artistic project on the go. She has drawn me a scene with two cats and a dinosaur going for a walk and has passed the work on to me as a challenge to progress her vision. She is so much faster with her felt tips that I’m considering ditching ink and wash and adopting markers in order to increase my speed. I just can’t keep up with her!
